Powerful Voices works within the community on girls’ issues to promote equity and make the world a just place for everyone.
We have three primary ways that we provide community engagement.
Girl Justice 1.0 and 2.0 Training: Girl Justice workshops cover our gender-specific and strengths-based approaches to serving adolescent female-identified youth. Powerful Voices hosts these trainings annually and considers requests to bring the training to other organizations for a fee. Click here for more details.
Girlvolution Conference: This girl-led social justice conference is presented by Powerful Voices annually in April and is free to youth under 21. Workshops are presented by girls from Powerful Voices ActiveVistas Employment Program and partner organizations. Other highlights include: art and performance by youth under 21, community partners resource fair, free breakfast and lunch!
Coalitions: Our staff members serve on coalitions such as Youth Development Executives of King County, Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative, Northwest Girls Coalition and King County Juvenile Detention Oversight Committee.
Powerful Voices creates and sustains strategic partnerships to enhance our ability to serve the complex needs of girls. We engage in cross-organization issue advocacy to raise awareness and visibiliy of girls’ issues and the need for effective and just policies.
