POSTPONED: Reimagining Philanthropy: Seeding Movements

Reimagining Philanthropy is Powerful Voices' new community program to explore the intersections of fundraising, social justice, and the Nonprofit Industrial Complex (NPIC). Together, we'll create and strengthen our understandings of these topics and learn how we can co-create a more equitable relationship to philanthropy in communities of color.

In session three of this series, join Powerful Voices' Donor Relations Manager Aisha Al-Amin and Taylor Coats from Philanthropy as they discuss philanthropy, foundations, and pro-Black racial justice from the lens of the foundational text "The Revolution Will Not Be Funded." More details about the exact articles we'll be referencing (and more) will be sent out the week before the event, so be sure to register today!

Meet our co-host, Taylor Coats! A newcomer to the Seattle area, Taylor comes to us from the Bay Area after relocating to pursue a master's degree in nonprofit leadership from Seattle University. Since receiving her bachelor's degree in political science from Howard University, she has dedicated her educational and professional careers to the service of community organizations spanning several focuses, including LGBTQ2IA+ rights, racial equity and the closure of the opportunity gap. Most recently, she served as an outreach engagement specialist for Our Family Coalition, a San Francisco-based queer family resource center. As Philanthropy Northwest's Program and Membership Associate, Taylor enjoys learning more about the wonderful work towards equity and access happening here in the Pacific Northwest. Taylor is energized by community organizing and empowerment work in support of marginalized peoples, and she looks forward to opportunities to engage with our members, region and community.
