Overview

The Youth Engagement Board Training Fellowship is an exciting role for young people who have been part of Powerful Voices’s programming to expand their leadership by guiding and supporting many aspects of Powerful Voices’s work, ultimately working towards planning and envisioning Girlvolution 2025. Fellows will each join one of three committees, focused on a different skill area that they will learn and grow in: Events, Outreach, and Communications.

Building on the work of past Girlvolutions, Girlvolution 2025 to be a multi-faceted, multi-program event aimed at spotlighting and bringing together all the different aspects of Powerful Voices’s programs and work into one educational and celebratory event by and for BIPOC youth.

FAQ’s

  • Why do I need to have participated in a Powerful Voices program before?

    • Our fellowships are an opportunity for those who have been involved in PV to step up and deepen their involvement, helping take leadership in the organization on an even larger scale. This is the first time we’ll have a youth-led project on this level, so we are going to be looking for young people’s creativity and leadership on how to make this board as successful as possible and to help shape Powerful Voices’ work.

  • Who will decide what I’ll be working on?

    • The fellowship will be tailored to the interests and passions of individual fellows. There will be plenty of projects and different kinds of work to take on. While we will all be collectively working on Girlvolution 2025, there’s lots of room for youth to figure out what exactly they’re excited about within and beyond that. Fellows will work with their supervisors to help come up with a plan that details what you’re most excited about working on and what areas you want to focus on.

  • What if I don’t have experience in a certain area?

    • That’s okay! This is an opportunity for anyone who has been in a Powerful Voices program before to grow  - so even if you feel like you don’t have all the skills you want to build yet, this is a great opportunity to build those skills up! Our staff is here to help guide and support you in learning different skills you’re interested in gaining, and this opportunity is designed so that we can help support young folks in accessing their leadership and carrying out their vision.
